Major convention facility OICC reopens after massive renovation!

Osaka International Convention Center, a.k.a. Grand Cube Osaka, has reopened after its first-ever series of major renovations.

Osaka International Convention Center, also known by its nickname Grand Cube Osaka, is located on the urban island of Nakanoshima in the center of Osaka and first opened in April 2000. After undergoing its first-ever extensive series of renovations and outfitting, the impressive venue reopened its doors on April 1, 2024.

Ahead of Osaka’s upcoming Expo 2025, with the goal of becoming one of Asia's premier urban meeting and event facilities, Grand Cube Osaka has been enhanced in both infrastructure and service to further improve its convenience, comfort, and satisfaction for its users. The venue has hosted numerous international conferences, including the recent G7 Osaka-Sakai Trade Ministers' Meeting. The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau continues to work together with Grand Cube Osaka to bring even more meetings and events to Osaka.

Key Rennovations

World-class sound system and comfortable seating: speakers from world-renowned sound system manufacturer L-Acoustic have been installed in the 5th floor Main Hall. The seats and carpets have been remodeled and refreshed, creating a spacious and comfortable space.

Restored designs and elegant carpeting: Door handles originally designed by world-renowned architect Kisho Kurokawa and installed only in the 12th floor Special Conference Room have been repainted, reproducing the texture and vibrant colors from their original creation. The carpet of the Special Conference Room has been reupholstered to create an even more sophisticated and refined space, for a stately and profound atmosphere you will experience upon walking in.

Refreshed dining experiences: The indoor carpet of the 12th floor restaurant Grand Toc has been remodeled to create a chic and relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy a variety of party dishes while taking in Osaka’s iconic night view from 80 meters above the ground in this space designed by Kisho Kurokawa.

Other renovations include new 5G communications equipment, new unique venue package plans, and robust PR strategies for Expo 2025. The official website has also received a major overhaul, making it an even more convenient tool for meeting and event organizers.
